Apple Parallels Advise Needed Quickly

Hello,

I don't own an Apple product yet, but I am willing to buy a MacBook pro (The cheapest one from store.apple.com right now).
I am using VMware on other laptop/desktops right now but I felt that it was quite hard to run on dual cores, now my question is:
Can I run parallels on a dual core i7 + 5400 rpm (1tb) hdd?
I also off course want it to run quick. The MacBook I want to get has 8 GB RAM so that won't really be a big problem, but I most likely just want to know if it runs smooth/fast with the specs above.

I hope someone can help me / reply :)

~I really need to know this before I buy it, and I am planning to buy one this week already (Unless parallels wont run smooth off course!!) ~

It will run smooth without the SSD. I've been using it with the HDD for a long time and I never had problems. I recommend you to avoid the coherence mode without the SSD because it loads windows every time that you open a Windows app, and it closes it when you're done using it. With the regular mode, you'll be able to use games and big programs without problems!

Hello!

Yes, with 8GB and the intel i7 you'll be fine with Parallels 10. It worked smooth on MacBooks with 2GB and 4GB of RAM. It all depends of what you're going to use.

But you won't have any problem. I'm actually using Parallels on a i5 MacBook with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB SSD and it runs smooth.

Thank you for responding Reismarc,

The point was that it is not an 500 GB SSD but an 500 GB HDD on 5400 RPM.
I am planning to buy the macbook and put an SSD in it tho, but still would like to know if it would run smooth on an 5400 rpm hdd.
