Hi Guys -

As the header states, I recently built a new PC. I am in no way a computer expert, but have built pc's in the past with no issues. My current build seems to sometimes run slow or sluggish and now will randomly give me a black screen and have to be manually rebooted.

I'm not sure all the information you will need to help me with this, but I can get you whatever you need. DXdiag or Msinfo files helpful?

I've checked drivers and updates. I have not gone in to BIOS settings because as I stated I don't fully understand them and did not want to make a mistake that would cause more issues.

My Build is as follows.

1. AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Desktop Processor FD8350FRHKBOX

2. SAPPHIRE TRI-X OC 100362-2SR Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card

3. ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

4. EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 220-G2-0750-XR 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply Intel ...

5. Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

6. G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

Running Windows 7 Home Edition - Rosewill Thor full case - Asus Cd/Dvd drive - Corsair hydro 105 cooling system.

As I stated I'd be willing to garner any other information that may be helpful to try and resolve the current issues I'm having.

thanks
Josh

Solution
I would check the ASUS site for new BIOS, and give that a shot as long as you are sure that all of your hardware has the latest drivers including your CPU.

I have similar issue as yours, and my build has AMD FX-6300, SAPPHIRE R9 280, ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+. I did lots of tests and I'm thinking problem is caused by the motherboard, but I'm not 100%.

Hi,

My problem was finally solved by replacing the motherboard. Before that, I did lots of testings, exclude CPU, graphics card, memory cards, PSU, even the case. Hope this would help.

Thanks.
