Hi, I am looking to build a gaming rig for around 1500$, but I am not completely sure of what to buy.
I am currently thinking of getting an Intel Core i7-4790K and a couple of GTX 970s, but I'm unsure of what to get as far as other components go.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Lets face it when your going to spend that amount of money on a build your going to want to take care of it specially if you want to overclock, you're going to need good air flow in your case and a cpu cooler none of the builds which ive seen have either of these components, and what happened to the keyboard and mouse?

Also for gaming an i7 4790k isnt necessary, the multithreaded cores contribute to heat production which is bad for lifespan. Im not saying the i7 is bad cause its not it an absolute beast however the i5 4690k is literally the same cpu except it doesn't have multithreaded core which could benefit you, less heat=more life and you could even overclock it to higher frequencies. As far as the gtx 970 I dont recommend them lots of people have been having issues with them, and in light of it hardware limitations and nvidia false advertisement, i'd say stay away from those; also for the price of 2 gtx 970's you could get an amd 295x2 which is the best thing for gaming right now actually its overkill for literally any task you throw at it and its at an all time low for 600 something dollars.

I'm going to submit a build, let me know what you think?

This build has it all, I selected the fractal design r4 because its a nice case and it comes with two fans included it also aid in noise reduction. The build also includes a high end air cooler for the cpu, one more fan for better air flow in your case;it also has more ram
and it even come with a mouse and keyboard at your budget.

I apologize for the length of this submission but i really wanted recommend you an epic build, the amd r9 295x2 was made to compete with the titan it will definitely outperform the gtx 970 sli configuration not to mention you wont run into any sli or crossfire issues since the build only has one gpu and it comes with a closed loop liquid cooling setup to keep things nice and chilly

This is almost perfect, I'd personally just switch the PSU on one of these builds to an XFX XTR 750W psu. Fully modular and gold efficiency!

Good idea! OP may want to do this and I'll keep it in mind for future builds :)

Thanks for all the help everyone! I'll be doing a lot more research before I get anything but you all have certainly pointed me in the right direction.
Again, thanks for all the help!

No problem. Personally I'd take PizzaTheHutts' second build with an XFX XTR 750W.

The reason being is that it's a modular psu which will be cleaner than the Rosewill psu and has a better efficiency. Did I say it's also developed by Seasonic?

None the less his build except from that is PERFECT for you!

Glad to see that we could help :). I would take -HH-'s advice and go for an XFX XTR 750w as, after having a look, appears to be a beast of a PSU for very little actually.
