Need some help with a small upgrade Im doing to my PC. Would like to add another 8 Gb of RAM because I do alot of video editing and rendering. Also would like to add 1 TB HDD and a SSD. Would like to know if I can just buy new 16 GB of RAM instead of having to buy 8 GB more of the one I currently have which is $125 since its not made anymore. Also would like to know a good cheap SSD that I can add to give me faster loading times. Will also be getting 1 TB of WD Cavier Blue 7200RPM for $55. This is just a small upgrade since Im probably going to do a new build next year and selling my current one.

Also thinking about buying another GPU I cant find the same model number as my current GPU. Do I have to buy the same exact GPU or can I for something a little different? What would I gain from adding another GPU?

Current GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202006

This is what I could find on Amazon, looking elsewhere now: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=SAPPHIRE+100352-2L+Radeon+HD+7950

RAM im using: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00592002W/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

Solution
Crucial Ballistix 16Gb of DDR3-1600 will cost about $120.

Almost any SSD will provide a big improvement. Micron (Crucial) and Samsung make most of the chips, everyone else re-sells them. Bigger drives are faster usually. For efficient 'garbage collection', the TRIM function, about 20% of the drive needs to be kept empty. I would start with at least 240Gb (I did, a 256Gb Crucial MX100). The new inexpensive BX100 series from Crucial would be where I would start. Read the reviews and decide for yourself.

For Crossfire, the GPU needs to be very, very, similar in memory and GPU chip.

It's like cable or color TV, you can live without it until you have it, then you cannot. 9 second boots from power-on rock!

have you thought about a 1tb sshd drive? not sure about us prices but there around £65-70 in the uk.

also, 16 gig of kingston hyper x ram would be good and if your mobo can take it, get 1866 or 2400 mhz ram as that might aid the rendering a little more.

the sshd's are ok when at the right price.I threw a 2tb seagate in a new build for someone before xmas (it cost literally $15 more than a standard 2tb drive)
the initial dozen boots were not particularly impressive ,but after that it was pretty much matching a standalone ssd for boot speed & general usage with most used apps.
Would I use one for an upgrade to an existing system?NO
But at the price I paid for that it was a decent choice for a budget mid range new-build imo.
