ok so a friend has asked me to build him a dedicated streaming pc to hook his alienware up to.
he wants to stream 1080p 30-60 fps where possible (his upload speed is 10Mbps) and there is very little on the web as to recommended hardware. within his budget i can get as follows:
i7 4790k
micro ATX board (looking at http://www.newegg.com/global/ie/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132120 )
small generic case
~400w PSU
he has 8gb ram spare from an old upgrade
basic 500g - 1tb HDD
the AverMedia seems the most popular "budget" capture card so i guess that one

anyone have any suggestions? in my mind a 4790k seems overkill, would a i5 4670k not do the same? or even a fx 6300 (if i upgrade mine i can use it in his build)

like i say, he wants the best quality stream he can, and what i priced up is within his budget but i'd like to see if i can save him a bit more

Solution
up to 1000 euro (he didn't really know what it could cost, hence asking me) for complete build. my OP came in around 600-700 depending on case/psu choice so i'd like to keep it within that

it MUST be capable of encoding 1080p (prferrably 60fps) he wants the best quality stream

ok i've had a scout around and a good chat with my friend. he basically handed me 1k and said he wants the best to stream at the highest quality possible. so the provisional set-up is as follows:

cpu: i7 4790k [334 euro] (non-k is about 10 euro cheaper)
mobo: asrock z97m pro4 [90 euro] (about 40 euro cheaper than any asus mATX in germany, and still good for future overclocking)
*** EDIT *** noticed there is no small pci connection on this board for the capture card, so will have go for MSI z97m G43 for a bit cheaper. or there's gigabyte ga-z97m-ds3h at even less. is the quality of these boards any good? ***
cooler: stock (it wont be overclocked for the foreseeable future)
psu: seasonic m12 ii 520w [55 euro] (modular to keep as tidy as possible, powerful enough to put a gpu in there in the future)
case: sharkoon ma-m1000/a1000 [35/33 euro] (final decision is his, i have a few thermaltakes in mind at 20 euro more but he doesn't care what the case is like)
capture card: AverMedia live gamer HD [140 euro]
hdd: seagate 1tb [50 euro]

total cost: 700 euro.
persoanlly i dont think its half bad, could get a decent gpu and still keep it under a 1000 euro build!

anyone see any compatibility issues ie fitting it all in? what about an aftermarket cpu cooler?
i cant really see how to make it more cost-friendly without scrimping on something like a mobo or psu that isn't so future-proof or good quality brands
