Just recently my PC's audio playback stopped working when I turned it on. Speakers are working fine. All Drivers are updated. I've tried restarting my PC several times and reupdated my drivers from scratch but I still get no playback. I went to my sounds and tried testing, but I received an error saying "Failed to play test tone."

I'm using the audio card thats built into my EVGA 787 Stinger MiniITX mobo. My Speakers are using Sound Blaster Recon3Di and my Monitor is using NVIDA HD Audio.

Please help. Appreciate any advices.

1. Go to your sound card control panel and see what speaker configuration it is using (if it's set to 5.1 and you don't have a 5.1 speaker configuration, you might need to switch to Stereo or whatever other configuration you're using). I've had the same issue and even though I was using the proper configuration (5.1 with a 5.1 system), switching to Stereo or 7.1 would make the sound work perfectly fine, so it could either be a driver incompatibility or a Windows update that broke compatibility).

Other steps you might want to consider:
1.Make sure you have the latest sound card driver (Device Manager-> Sound-> Right click on Sound card (Creative, in your case)-> Update and let the wizard connect to Microsoft to check for an updated driver. Also, head over here and make sure you get the latest sound driver for your Windows version:

Make sure your PC is not defaulting sound output to HDMI. Go to Control Panel, Sound settings and check the options over there and you will see what the default device for Audio playback is.
