have the trendnet 150 (tew-712br)<RUNNING: OpenWrt Attitude Adjustment r33264> and I'm trying to use it as a wifi repeater.

the router only has one antenna and what i'm trying to accomplish is to connect the router to a wifi network, then re-broadcast that internet connection through a new SSID

does anyone have any advice.

I doubt that it can be used in a repeater mode, but you can attach it to the main router LAN port to LAN port with an Ethernet cable and set it up as a wireless access point by just turning off the Trendnet DHCP and giving it a static IP address that is outside the main router DHCP range but still in the network range. Then use a different SSID and radio channel.

thanks for your answer, would the procedure be the same if I would connect the trendnet to the main router through wireless? and then connect a second trendnet to the first trendnet through lan, and then broadcast wifi through the 2nd trendnet?

No, it would be a bit different. Not sure if your 150 supports OpenWRT client mode. I've not used OpenWRT, as I use DD-WRT, but I don't think that DD-WRT supports your 150 model.

With DD-WRT it is easy to set up and v24 has many useful modes, including Repeater Bridge.

I would opt for using a pair of good powerline adapters to attach the 150 as an AP though, as repeating will halve your bandwidth, which will already be down due to the distance from the main router.
