I have an asus m4a78 plus and I have an issue. Yesterday I encountered a problem where my computer would make NO beeps and just a black screen. I checked everything and i'm sure it's the ram causing it, but i'm so confused.

First off, my computer when everything 100% smooth ALWAYS has 1 short beep on startup(POST success noise?).

Now, I have 2, 2gb ram sticks. When I put both in the computer goes back to making no beeping noise. When I leave one stick it makes that one short beeping noise like as if the POST is successful then couple seconds later it makes 2 short beeps with no way to enter BIOS(no display, Keyboard and mouse don't work).

If I do it the other way and leave the OTHER stick in the computer makes no beeping noise. This led me to believe that the 2nd ram stick is the problem.

The thing that confuses me is if one ram stick makes 2 short beeps and the other makes NO beeps then why can't the one with 2 short beeps work? what does it mean?

Note: I tried taking both sticks out and it makes 1 long beep then 2 short beep, but with RAM in it I never had the long beep then 2 short beeps.

Please let me know.

Thank you!

EDIT: I've googled, checked the manual online, etc and still haven't come up with what the 2 short beep on asus mobo means.

Look what i found now

http://support.asus.com/pcassistant/pdf/BeepTable_en-us.pdf

it says 1 short beep means video is fine so I know GPU isn't the problem and 2 short beeps means HDD not working. I know why it isn't it's because I reset my bios by removing CMOS. I have to get back and change it from IDE to RAID, but I don't see not POST screen and can't enter bios. My keyboard and mouse work and light up but there is no other way to enter bios.

Help, any other way to enter bios? besides the usual way
