So i bought an evga supernova g2 750 for my rig to replace my third cx600m that blew up!!!
So i asked corsair for a refund and they asked for my aba routing number for my account. Well im not about to cough that up so they gave me the option to upgrade my psu to the cs and possible the rm series is it worth it or do those also suck. Im trying to get them to get me the hxi series but idk how that will turn out, Thanks for the help.

If they will only give you a power supply and not your money back you can always sell the unit they send you. I'd keep the EVGA as it's truly an excellent unit.

Yes the CS and RM are in some ways better than the CX. And in other ways no they are actually worse. The RM 750 is the first Corsair unit to fail completely in testing by HardOCP.

Then the CX 750 joined it.

Corsair power supply quality has dropped over the last few years. I would use an HX or HXi and an AX or AXi and I would probably avoid most of the rest of their lineup. I would certainly avoid the CS and RM series.

Our tier list is stuck where it can't be edited right now but the HX and HXi should be tier 1.

Tier 2 and up for a high end, high power draw build like yours is recommended. The EVGA G2 is an excellent unit. Tier 1.

Ok i see that the rm and cs bottom line just suck so i will push corsair to get me a an hx or hxi psu and if they cant is the rm or cs worth my time even if it were just a backup psu for my evga supernova g2 or should i just bail if i cant get the hx or hxi? Main question is are they any better then the cx series psus.

I wouldn't buy anything Corsair unless it was made by seasonic. The RM, CS, etc have low quality capacitors and shouldn't be put in a high performance rig like yours - and it appears you already found that out the hard way.

Seasonic, XFX (made by seasonic), or the Supernova G2 are the only thing I would recommend. The corsair units that are made by seasonic are great, but they are grossly overpriced to bear the corsair nametag.

At the end of the day it's not worth saving 30-40$ on an expensive gaming rig like yours for a crappy PSU. Spend the 70-100$ and you should be good for the next 6 years or more.

It depends on why it was an 8.5. In my opinion if the performance and build quality were both scored 9+ and price ( at time of review ) and functionality were the reasons for the lower score then the unit would still be worth considering. There are just so many excellent quality units out there now for a reasonable price it's really hard to recommend anything that scores under excellent across the board unless regional availability is the determining factor.

Corsair has gone the route of Coolermaster with 500 OEMs so it can be hard to keep who makes what straight. This will help ;)

Just my opinion but, Seasonic, Flextronics or SuperFlower will build any power supply that I would buy for myself.
