Upgrading a PC. Got a bit confused.

Hey guys, I plan on upgrading my PC soon and I just figured out I might need some help. It's been a while since I've been into this kind of things and now I've found myself a bit confused.

I'll have some questions so please forgive me for my lack of knowledge.

I'll post my current setup first:
Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D (LGA 1156)
GPU: Intel i5 760 CPU: Radeon R9 270
RAM: 4GB DDR3 1166 MhZ
Power supply: 600W (don't remember the model, I'll edit it tomorrow)

Ok, here we go. I want to replace my motherboard, CPU and RAM in the first run and then the GPU and a SSD a bit later on.

When deciding which motherboard to choose I got a bit confused. I'll give you a bit info. I don't really need to put anything in my motherboard besides a graphics card, hdd and ssd so I guess I don't really need them extra slots. I go with integrated network and sound card. I'm also not really interested in overclocking. Are there any benefits of ATX over m-ATX other than more slots?

I was thinking about MSI H97-G43. I think it has everything I need, but it only goes with 1600 MhZ RAM. Will that be enough or should I go with MSI Z97M-G43, which goes with up to 3300 MhZ RAM? (keeping in mind that I'm not the richest person and I don't want to spend a fortune on RAM). Or maybe would you guys suggest something else? I've seen people saying if you don't want to OC you can go with H97 but that also limits the RAM. Is the difference in RAM speed that important? Oh and by the way - both those motherboards have M.2 - does that mean no problem with SSD connection?

Now for my CPU choice I was looking at this

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Desktop-CPUs-for-under-300-3766312

I've figured Intel i5 4690 would work for me. (I really don't want to spend more than 180$ on CPU). Is that a good choice and will it work with those motherboards? (both lga 1150 so I guess it will).

Now about RAM. I don't really know much about RAM manufacturers etc so I really need your help guys. I would like to stick with 50-700$ price range for now. I think 8GB DDR3 (probably 2x4GB would be better?). Perhaps add another 8GB in the future. I don't really know how high with MhZ I can go in this price range. I've seen some 3000 MhZ memories for 100$ but not sure if they're legit or just some no name scams. Helperino me pls!.

And that sums the first turn. Now in few months I'd like to purchase a GPU and an SSD (probably 128-256GB).

I was aiming to get GTX 970 or maybe a GTX 770 if not enough money. Is it still worth to buy GTX 970 given its problems with vRAM cap at 3.5GB?

And about SSDs I also don't know much, so which one 128-256GB would be good? (and will it fit in the motherboards I proposed?) The cheaper the better by the way.

Okay I think this is it. Now my milestone questions are:
-Is this configuration OK? Will everything cooperate well or maybe you have some suggestions?
-Will something be bottlenecked? Or maybe did I get it just terribly wrong?
-Will my 600W power supply work with that or do I need more power?

I know it's a lot of questions but I really hope that someone will be good enough to answer. Thank you!.

The i5 4690 is great pick and as far as ram goes faster doesn't always mean more expensive and i recommend getting 8gb sticks only; that leaves with a greater ability to upgrade for more memory. I dont recommend the gtx 970 in light of their hardware limitations and nvidia false advertisement of card specs. However nvidia just relesed the gtx 960 and seems to be a greater performer, its cheaper than a 770 and most likely performs better. However its your choice whether you want to get an mATX board or an ATX the only difference is the size so it really depends on what your trying to build. Are you trying to build a compact system or do you want a full blown desktop?

Neither I think. I don't really care for a small, compact set. I'm going to put it in ATX case anyway. I'm just also not aiming for a full blown desktop cuz I lack money. So I only need one HDD, one SSD, one GPU and thats all. So I guess m-ATX will be fine for me.

Cannot really argue this one. Maybe save some money on some less expensive kingston ram, but that is about it.
