Can't find desktop documents on expansion drive

My hard drive on my hp computer crashed and can't be recovered. However, I did back up regularly to an expansion drive. I had documents on my desktop but now can't find them on the expansion drive. Can anyone help me find them or at least tell me where to look?

Hey kaliszek. How did you backup? If you've used some sort of backup software, I'd recommend that you use the same to recover the files. If you have just copy-pasted those files, then you should be able to find them if they haven't been deleted or something. Just press F3 and write the name of one of the files to see its location. If on the other hand the files have been deleted for some reason, then I'd suggest that you try some of the data recovery options listed in this thread here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html
