I have a Sapphire hd 3870 graphics card that I recently acquired, but the problem is, when I put the card in my pc, my computer will not boot. I hit the power button and it sits there in a repeating cycle of beeps, (meaning my pc is restarting every half second, over and over again.) and will not boot properly. Also, my Power supply does not have a 6pin power connector for the graphics card, BUT, I do have a PCIe 2.0 slot. That being said, the 3870 should get full power without needing the power connector. (I assume it should, feedback would be appreciated!) So, I would love to hear any answers or feedback anyone has on how I can fix this problem! thanks!
CPU: AMD Sempron 145 2.8 GHz
RAM: 4gb DDR3
Motherboard: Asus M4A88T-M
GPU: Radeon HD 4250 onboard graphics

Solution
"the 3870 should get full power without needing the power connector"

Wrong. The 6-pin connector must have a 6-pin PCIe power cable connected to it from the PSU. If the card could function without it, the connector would not be there! There isn't enough power for it through the PCIe slot alone.

If you existing PSU does not have a 6-pin PCIe power cable, you'll need to change it for one that has.

Oh okay, thank you! But, I have seen a double 4pin to 6pin adapter that usually comes with the brand new cards, could I go down to my local computer shop and pick one up or order one off the internet that will work?
