1080p vs 2k vs 4k

Hello,
I just recently got a new pc and im planning on using it for livestreaming and video edditing ( i know cpu is an overkill )
Cpu : i7 5820k
Mobo x99 extreme 4
Ram 16gb g.skill 2400mhz ddr4
Graphics gtx 970 windforce g1
Cooler h105
Case nzxt h440
Powersupply corsair 530w ( from old pc)
Now im planning on getting a second 970 , new powersupply and a new monitor with it.
I currently have a 21 inch monitor ( secondary one) and a 27inch(1920x1080) monitor. Now my original plan was to buy a 4k monitor when i got my second 970 and use my 27inch as a secondary monitor and place the 21 inch monitor asside but ive been wondering if it isent more efficient to go with a 2k monitor or just get another 1080p monitor.
All recomendations welcome

if that's a bit much

your best bet would be getting a pair of 980s or wait for the 980ti or radeon 300 series to come out. the reason i say that, is because sometimes SLI/Crossfire doesn't always work the best in every game, so you want a strong singleGPU, and the 970 is not cut out for the higher resolution

So both of you would say going for 980s and scrapping the 970 then i guess with 980s youd go for 4k? And same with 970s

Okay thanks guess ill do that and save up in the meantime to get the first graphicscard you recommended ^^ nothing more fun than throwing money out of your window. Looking back should have gotten the 8core intel processor for 1'000$ aswell.

TofuLion is right - nobody really NEEDS 4k yet but if you are desperate for it then 980's in SLI is the best way to go to get it. Either that or TITAN Z's but then any pretense of a budget flies out of the window

1440p is really nice. Doesnt require the huge power that 4k does, but still a big improvement over 1080p (around 75% more pixels)

If you were going to stay at 1440p however the 970SLI would be perfect. 4k is 2160p you'll need more power than 970 at that point.
