So I currently have an amd fx 6300 but want to upgrade to an intel K series cpu ( i5 2500k , 3570k , 4570k etc ). Im wondering if in terms of real world gaming performance is the i5 3570k or i5 4570k that much better than the 2500k ?

The reason I want to upgrade is because I mostly play arma 3 / arma 2 / dayz which require fast individual cores to run smoother.

Thanks !

Hmm most people say to me that the cpu gives the biggest boost fro arma and that gpu just allows you to have higher quality. I will double check. But the general consensus seems to be that the 2500k is still just as capable so unless I can get a good deal I will buy a 2500k :0

that is right if you are comparing fx to i5. Intel will have a big advantage in cpu demanding games like Arma3, dayZ etc. But when you are comparing i5's, it will be almost the same in performance give and take 5fps. So if the i5 2500k still in good shape, you know the seller or still in warranty, just buy it and spend the extra cash with a a better gpu

There is not much difference between these processors but if you buy a motherboard anyway you should go for the newer manufacturing process and the older isn't cheaper.

Well I would go for the newer but I can get the i5 2500k used for atleast £40 cheaoer than a used i5 3570k.

Yeah for most games I wont see a difference but that doesnt bother me because I am happy with what I get curently in all games except arma 3 , dayz.

The intel cpus give a large fps boost for arma 3.

the link i posted above shows that there is only 6frame difference between your cpu and core i7 4th gen in ARMA3 , if you want more performance in ARMA upgrade your GPU instead of CPU
