I'm looking to buy the Mod 1150 ASUS Z97-A ATX Motherboard to go with my i7-4790K CPU.

The motherboard supports SLI however i read somewhere that not all GTX GPU's are compatible.
I want to SLI x2:
Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II 3GB GDDR5 Graphics Card (PCI Express 3.0)

Will they be compatible with the mobo?

Not all pcie slots will work with SLI but most will. The z-97A is compatible with 2 way sli as the z97 platform only gives 16 pcie lanes, although the board has physical connections for much more. SLI requires a minimum of 8 pcie lanes for each graphics card. When you do SLI on the z97-A you will split the lanes to x8 x8 between the two cards, even though they are both in x16 slots

The easiest way to tell is on the manufacturers website, most of the time it will say if it is compatible with crossfire or sli.

Did you game on 1080p or higher, and what where the frames like?

I'm thinking of upgrading to 4k soon however i just recently bought my gtx 780 and don't really want to get rid of it for dual 980's. Do you think dual 780's are sufficient for decent 4k framerates?
