Gigabyte R9 280X Problem

Hi all, I got my Gigabyte R9 280X yesterday and decided to give it some light tests. All of the games (call of duty 4, fifa 14) I tested crashed with ATI "driver stopped and recovered" notifications. However, the FurMark test runs fine with 99% GPU load. What seems to be the problem here?
PS: The card is running on the Corsair 450W (85% efficiency).

Problem is that your PSU cant handle the card. 280X is a power hungry card, minimum 550-600W quality PSU.

But it runs fine with the FurMark stress test which is very demanding in power!

FurMark is not the same as running a game. It only stresses GPU. A regular game will stress ALL your components, resulting in potentially much higher power draw. 450W is really borderline for 280X and should be avoided, get a decent 550W unit.

I'm currently in a very strict situation right now, I can't get a new PSU at the moment. According to you, 3Dmark should be the right test, correct?

Yes, but you have to run "Combined" test, which will stress both the CPU and the GPU at the same time. However, I do not recommend stressing the PSU so much, it could die, potentially taking other components with it.

Thanks for the replies herrwizo, I'll tress them just enough to know that I'm not dealing with a faulty GPU. I'll report back soon.
