Hi I have a problem I am hoping you can help me with. My computer cuts out seemingly at random when playing games, no display and gpu fans spin to full. Before this happens the screen sometimes turn black for a second before recovering only to completely cut out later. The only way to recover is a hard restart on which I revive no error report. After a while if was no longer able to restart as usual, but just to the gpu fan spinning at full while CPU and case fans stayed off. I was able to remedy this by resetting CMOS but the same happened again later. I checked my temps during a game and they didn't seem that high (CPU: 60s gpu: 40s). I removed my gpu and tried to start from using integrated but no use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Specs: gtx 760 twin frozr, i5 3570, gigabyte ga-z87x-sli, corsair cx 750, 8gb corsair vengeance

Solution
Could be a number of things. If you are sure your temps are okay. I would start suspecting a dodgy power supply. The CX series have had their share of bad reviews for breaking so it could be the problem.

I would start trouble shooting by trying different things:

- When you said you can't use the integrated GPU, why not ? What happened?
- Have you overclocked anything? If so, reset everything in the BIOS / GPU tweaking software to stock settings and retest.
- Check your PSU/cables for obvious signs of damange/burning smells/melted plastics.
- Test with only 1 stick of RAM if you have more than 1.
- Try another PSU in your system!

Try to test it with prime95 and furmark if the prime95 fails test with the Intel processor tester maybe defective components can cause. If nothing of theese shows the error you should reinstall the windows and test again. (maybe software problem)

I thought it may have been a psu problem. When I said I couldn't use the inter grated gpu this is when the computer fully crashed and I was unable to restart I removed my card and tried plugging directly into my board but I was met with the same problem: no display, fans not spinning ( although psu and hard drives did activate)

This sounds like a faulty mobo even. Not what you want to hear but it's a possibility. So you can't plug into the onboard GPU and boot into windows? Have you enabled the feature in your bios? Also try resetting to defaults.

Ok have just checked 1 stick of ram at a time and to my amazement on removal of the second stick, leaving the first in it booted. Does this mean its a ram problem or just a haywire motherboard or something else entirely. Would removing both sticks of ram have caused the computer to 'lose track' of it having another problem so removal is a treatment not a cure or do you think the stick itself is dodgy?
