SSD Wear Level hits 1 after 30 days

It has now been 30 days since I installed my Samsung 850Pro 256GB SSD. After reviewing the SMART information I saw that the wear leveling was at 1, with a maximum of 99.

I'm a bit concerned about this because the amount of data written to the drive is only .26TB!

My question is, what is the effect upon performance with the wear level increasing? Speed or simply bad data areas being avoided?

Is this something to be concerned about with such little data written to it?

That actually does sound a little high. I just checked on my Crucal MX100, and it has seen 538 GB of data writes, and is still coming up at 0% usage.

I don't think it will effect the performance, but the drive's life span may be shorter than what you expect.

Thanks Digitaldoc. I thought the same but I was a bit confused and trying to read to much information too fast to take it all in. :( I'll just have to watch it and hope for the best. After all that I have read about SSDs though I won't be storing critical information on them.

HDDs are bad enough with bit rot. Having just started comparing my back ups to my master drive I find at least one file every six months that has been altered, either by a single bit/byte or sometimes as much as 4k of data from a failure somewhere in the hardware. :(

I know this thread is old but i have reached wear level 3 and i have only had my 850 Pro for 4 days . I have another 850 Pro that showed the same wear leveling counts (4 in approx 6 days) and it's still going strong years later .

I wiped and formatted them repeatedly at the start because i kept screwing up the installs .
