Hey guys, so I built a new rig for the living room. It's a G3258 with an ASROCK Anniversary Z97m board. Also have an Asus 750 TI OC in there.

I have HDMI to TV. From TV I would be going to the receiver (Receiver has no HDMI.. It does have optical)

I have installed the Realtek drivers, AND I installed the Audio drivers from Geforce. First off, are both those drivers necessary? Does The Geforce have onboard processing, or is it just passthrough from the Realtek chip?

Now the first thing I found strange was the connected device is just High Definition Audio. It says the HDMI Devices are not connected (See screenshot)

So that's question #1, why would it say that instead of HDMi connected? I would say maybe one was talking about the onboard HDMI port, but they both say NVidia HDMI, and furthermore the onboard one is disabled, so, cannot be!

#2, I've noticed in some peoples screenshots of Realtek, they have options, even through HDMI.. This is what I have

You'd think there would be a tab to adjust HDMI output or some such, but nope?! I think something seems amiss here.

All Motherboard drivers and what not and graphics card drivers seem to be up to date (Motherboard from Asrock, GFX from Nvidia site).

#3 I have read that SOME of my problem could be this EDID problem with Nvidia cards going to a 2 channel TV, (but that still doesn't explain the lack of options in the Realtek menu??)

Let's say as a last resort, I wanted to run optical directly from the CPU to the receiver (I really, really, don't.. Because it only has 1 optical in.. And I have other gear connected to the TV hdmi, and the tv optical going to the receiver, and all that stuff works well. So I'd rather not disconnect those!!), is there some sort of Optical Passthrough PCIe card? Not a full on sound card, but just a card that will take the onboard sound and turn it optical (Spdif?)?

(I forgot to mention, there IS sound.. Just not the sound nor controls that i want!)

Thanks guys, appreciate it tons!
