Ok yesterday i completed my first build specs are as follows.

cpu-i7-4790k
gpu-GTX 980 EVGA SC 2.0
ram-Gskill Ripjaws x ddr3-1866MHz
mobo-Asus Maximus Hero VII
PowerSupply-EVGA 850G2
ssd-Samsung 850evo 250gb
hdd-WD Black 1tb

So i built my rig yesterday with no issues at all, it booted right up into the bios, i used an official 64bit windows 8.1 disc fresh install i used my asus dvd drive to load windows and then put everything on my ssd, take not i didnt not have the wd black hdd drive connected only the SSD. Everything was working great gaming etc etc, so today i figured i would clean some cables up and remove the dvd drive since im not going to use it anymore and connect my HDD to the PC. I cleaned everything up and connected the hdd removed the dvd drive, so when i booted my pc up windows took a long time loading i thought this was weird because it was literally like 3 seconds to get into windows before. After the loading it tells me that there was an issue with my pc it tries and repair but it makes no difference or it just restarts and same thing happens.

Any and all help or advice would be appreciated because im at a loss and am pretty bummed, i check to make sure it is still booting from my ssd as well and it is so i dont know. If you can help in anyway id appreciate it.

Ok im about to do that but before i do i have an update, i saw that i had my HDD plugged in to where my ssd was on the sata connections on my board so i put the ssd into the slot it was in originally and left the HDD sata unplugged from the motherboard and when i started up it went right into win8.1 with no issue just like before. So should i connect the HDD now and see if it will boot into windows or connect the HDD drive then go into my bios and see if AHCI mode is enabled?

why are you removing the SSD from the Sata port? just leave the ssd where it is and use another Sata connection for the HDD. If you remove the SSD your computer will not boot as the SSD contain the OS and the HDD does not. You can have both the SSD and HDD install at the same time. In the BIOS make sure to set the SSD as the boot drive and make sure the HDD drive is enable.

Hey buddy sorry it took me a while to get back to you had a family emergency, the problem was the sata port on my mobo that i had originally had my SSD plugged into when i installed Windows etc wasn't hooked up to that port. When i cleaned up my cables i plugged it into a different SATA port on my mobo and i think my system or Windows got confused, so i unplugged my HDD and plugged my SSD back into the original SATA port and everything booted right up with no issue. I think powered down plugged my HDD in and booted up and everything was ok and i have everything running properly now, Thanks again for taking the time to help me out i appreciate it and sorry it took me a bit to get back to you.
