Hi So I Just recently Built my Computer and I used a 980 and an 8350, Unfortunately I'm barely Pulling 45 fps in borderlands 2. My Friend Whom Is a Die hard Intel Guy Told me it was because I had an 8350 and that it wasn't the best for gaming And that I should get an i5 4690k. I don't Trust Him honestly because He will tell me something is better Simply because it is his preference, Would I See Any Improvement? It would be an expensive Upgrade and I would only Do it if I really Saw a difference.

Solution
you could try to overclock the 8350. what is your current clock speed? also, what motherboard and cpu cooler do you have? and how high is your cpu usage on the first 6 cores?

unfortunately, fan boy or not, your friend is right. the 4690K is far superior to the 8350 (which was neck in neck with intel when it first came out, but not since haswell). however, you should still be able to get better performance than that without an upgrade

you have a gtx 980 and barely pull 45 FPS on BL2?? there's something wrong there, and it's more than the CPU. what resolution is your display? borderlands (pre-sequel at least) is very well optimized (or less demanding) and does utilize the CPU quite a bit, but you should be getting max settings 60+ FPS even at 1440p (not 4k tho).

Well, in my personal opinion, yes, you will see an improvement. Each haswell core is one and a half bulldozer. The problem, of course, is the price. If you can afford it, you should have some more fps.

no, i don't think it has anything to do with the psu. double check to make sure that GeForce Experience isn't setting your game to "optimal settings" which would make it render at 4K and then downscale to 1080p to get better details (it is effective, but at diminishing returns).

okay So I just Checked my CPU and GPU usage and In dragon age My GPU usage is always in the 90's Rarely dropping to the 80's. Then I checked Borderlands 2 and My GPU Usage was at about 30 percent and rarely went above that. Borderlands 2 Wasn't using all of the cores it was only using 1-6, 7 and 8 Weren't being used.
