Hello People!

I will be getting a XFX edition R9 290X 4GB. Is it going to be compatible with my motherboard, MSI 760GA-P43(FX).

Currently have a HD9750 with an FX8350 so is it actually worth me upgrading too a 290x.

my PSU is corsair c750

Your help is massively appreciated.

It is most certainly compatible with your motherboard, and it would be a big boost in performance.

However, whether or not will it fit in your case (hopefully with sufficient airflow) and whether or not your PSU will be up to the task is another matter entirely.

To begin with, your PSU is of below-average quality and although it would most certainly be able to run this card, I just cannot recommend such cheap PSU with 290X. Do yourself a favor and get a decent PSU from Seasonic, XFX, Antec HCG, Corsair RM series up to 650W. You don't need 750W as you can see, but you DO need quality and stable power.

Also check the size of your case. This card is very long and you need to make sure it will fit at all.

Wicked! Thanks guys!.

I have a corsair 750D case which provides fantastic air flow!.

I have been looking at a new PSU and currently in my basket online i have a CORSAIR AX760 which I was going to buy. At the weekend. I don't want to spend over £100 on a PSU. Please suggest one.

In future i will be buying a new mobo. im thinking a sabertooth 990fx.

With gaming as main use, you should rather switch to intel once you've got the money. An i5 4460 would be a good improvement over a fx 8350.

I just picked up an EVGA Supernova 750 B2 on newegg for $84 bucks. It is actually made by superflower and tested 80+ silver not the rated bronze. It is also semi modular which is nice. There is an 850w version too but it was over kill for me.

I have read through all the comments and you've all been a great help. I am going for the Evga as its half the price of my original choice of the corsair. Now as much as I want my build too perform well, I want it too look good too. With the EVGA.. can i get the modular cables which are different colors like I could with the corsair cables?.

See i did think about the switch too intel but I find AMD are more "bang for the buck" so to speak. Maybe one day I will switch over but when I do it will be an i7 if anything.

No the cables that come with the unit are all black. I am not sure if different options can be ordered from EVGA or not.
