Hello, I was hoping this could wait a few more months but I'm starting to get bsod's, and I'm just attributing that towards my cpu/motherboard being nearly 5 years old now.
I have about a 1200$ budget right now, was going to do an entire build around may when i'll have triple that amount, but if nothing new on the cpu/motherboard market is around the corner, I see no reason to wait.
So I'm looking for advice on what to buy. I don't necessarily want top-of-the-line stuff, I know it gets over-priced when it's new and hyped, but I want something that's not going to drag me down now, or for at least 3 years preferably.
i7- 4790k with a Z97 PRO or Gaming motherboard is what I have my eye currently on. I am planning on going with SLI 970s when the rest of my budget comes around, so please take that into consideration when it comes to the motherboard.
Other than that, I already have a full-size tower with a ton of air flow, RAM could use a new look but it's not crucial, I have a great PS and an ATX sound card, currently using a 212 cpu cooler.
I believe that's all that's attached to my motherboard, other than the peripherals.
