So basically I've been doing a lot of research at my other house on my laptop for building my pc. This will be my first build and I knew I had a an AOC LED monitor (e950Swn to be exact) but wasn't sure what the res its and I'm not really picky about that kind of stuff but I get home and find the res is 1366 x 768 and it doesnt bother me, I've been using it for about 2 years it looks fine, length wise its fine I have no complaints. I was thinking of making my computer into a worstation for editing/graphics/rendering and for gaming, but mostly for gaming. Microcenter has a nice deal on i7 4790ks for around $240 and I was thinking about getting an R9 290 Tri-X video card and 8 Gigs of Ram, etc. Would those components be enough to run almost any newer game at ultra 60fps at that 1366 x 768 res? maybe even very high would be fine because Im not that THAT picky. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. Also if you could recommend any amount of ram/ a Mobo/ psu anything, thanks again.

Solution
Since your resolution is very low, you can run any kind of game with that graphic card at super/ultra settings. In my opinion you can even get a cheaper card.
If you want some advice on other:
- MoBo --> AsRock Extreme4
- 8 GB of ram are fine
- 600/750 PSU (any brand you like most, i personally use Enermax)
- Maybe have a look on nvidia card for lower power and noise (something like GTX 970).

Cheers

Solution
Outstanding deal on a 4790K.
Opinions may vary.
Here is my advice:
1. Rendering and editing can use large amounts od ram. Check your apps. Buy a 16gb kit up front. 2 x 8gb. 1600 0r 1866 speed at most.

2. Some R9 cards have issues. Check the newegg negative reviews on the specific card.
They are also hot. I suggest a GTX970 or eve GTX980 if budget permits. Some editing apps can use the CUDA capability of Nvidia cards.
3. On the psu, buy only quality. Seasonic would be first on my list. XFX, Antec are good too.
550w will run a GTX980, but I might overprovision a bit to 650w or so.

4. Most any Z97 based motherboard will do. Pick your favorite brand.

5. Use a SSD for the "C" drive. 240gb minimum.
You can always add a hard drive for storage later.
Samsung 840/850 or intel 730.

6. You will appreciate a larger monitor.
Look for a 27" 2560 x 1440 IPS unit.
