need for overclocking my cpu ,i recently purchased a heatsink fan , my pc is currently @4.3ghz with voltage 1.360v .But i felt that it is not performing not up to the mark ,i've ran prime95 for 30 min max temp was 58c.The pc is not restarting or freezing but i felt that it is little slower at the startup as compared to stock cpu frequency, also i've checked prime95 result its showing "ERROR: ILLEGAL SUMOUT" something like that, anyone please help me how i can properly overclock cpu without damaging it.

Specs-
Gigabyte-GA-880GM-USB3 motherboard (rev 3.1)
cooler master hyper 212x
corsair cx-600
corsair valueselect RAM 2x4GB
sapphire R9-270x vaporx
amd fx 8150

here are some images of bios

here are some of the system voltage control option (please help me which should i choose)
■ "DD3 Voltage control" it has 4 options ="+0.050v","0.100v","0.150v","0.200v"
■ "North bridge volt control" = +0.1v , +0.2v, +0.3v
■ "southbridge volt control = +0.1v , +0.2v, +0.3v
■ Cpu NB VID control = +0.025v,+0.050v,+0.075v,+0.100v,+0.125v.....(more options in increasing order)
■ cpu voltage control =+0.025v,+0.050v,+0.075v,+0.100v,+0.125v,+0.150v,+0.175v .... (increasing)

Solution

Lower the CPU frequency/voltage, this is the safest way. Check also the PSU voltages (both BIOS and Windows, idle/load), especially +12V value.
The maximum safe temp for your FX is 61C, so you are very close. You are using a Windows program to overclock the CPU? Because in your BIOS there are too many AUTO settings (including PCI-e frequency and memory frequency/voltage).
You could raise the NB/SB voltage only by +0.1V, NB VID by +0.050V and see how the system performs; be aware...

Hello,

I guess you are a very lucky guy with that overclocking, the FX8150 is not even officially supported by your motherboard (it supports only 8-core FX with 95W TDP). Try to add some heatsinks on top of VRM' MOSFETs.

For best FX performance, go for a motherboard with the 970/990/990FX chipset.

thanks for your reply , but the problem is i can't afford to buy a new motherboard coz they're very costly , i could try cooling mosfets by adding a heatsink ... but can you tell me if i can do anything on bios ?? i mean set lower voltage or something?

The cheapest motherboards (the prices are for US though) which will work well with your FX (but don't expect OC records):

thanks a lot , i think i must keep it @4ghz or below that btw i didn't used any windows program but can i use amd overdrive for overclocking, for test purpose??

Yes, you can use the Overdrive software; the power consumption and consequently the temperature will be higher though, as the motherboard will change the voltages at will to assure stable operation.
It's always better to use only one method, to avoid any interference. And, of course, it's much easier to troubleshoot a problem.
