We had a person call and she reports that a CD/DVD drive from a computer (let's call it Computer A) won't read the disc she puts in. This disc was burned in another PC at the time and works on any other computer except Comp A. She tried burning the file on Comp A and reading on it as well and still won't read. This disc WILL read on other computers. She then tried testing to see if the drive was bad by swapping drives. Comp A with a different drive had same issues, it burns, won't read. The original drive in Comp A that was placed into another computer would both read and write. So this tells me that it isn't a drive issue. Why would Comp A not read a disc that others will (even one made by itself)? Anyone have any insight on this issue?

PC is a Windows 7 OS

If you can try a 'different' DVD, somtimes brand names can be a factor.

It is possibly cd burning software installed, which is breaking the ability to read/write properly. Can you uninstall this, maybe run ccleaner registry scan, and reinsatll to try burning again?
