Just upgraded memory to 8gb, computer still slow

The computer has a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit installed, and I run maintenance on it at least once a week. I'm thinking the processor may be watering down the computer. It's performance is sluggish to begin with, especially in games.

your graphics card GT610 is the cause
it is not meant for gaming and will only offer slideshow like effect in games

so you need better graphics card too

also make sure that your system is not overheating
your system is very old so it is possible that you haven't applied new thermal paste in it
use hwinfo64 (sensor tab) software to check temperature of your system while idle and while running cpu intensive task (like video conversion) and if your temps are getting above 60'C for cpu then your will need to apply new thermal paste
