I want to get an i7 2600k... Are they now considered old or is it still a good CPU?

I am asking this question because I don't want to spend £170-£200 on an i5 4690k or similar and i7 2600k's go for around £120 on ebay, with my budget being £250 on upgrading my current PC:

Gainward GTX 570, Intel E5200, 4GB DDR2 RAM.

I am thinking about getting either the i5 3570k or an i7 2600k + 8GB Ram and a motherboard all for under £250.

So my question is... Is the i7 2600k still a good gaming CPU and should I get it over the i5 3570k (I do a lot of video editing and rendering)

Solution
It is still a very good gaming CPU, and if you do a lot of video editing and rendering the i7 will perform better in those tasks. Intel CPUs have only increased about 15% in performance in the last 4-5 years, the i7 2600k is still a top tier gaming CPU.
