So for the first time I can't find my solution in already made threads. Here's the issue, a friend came to me with a recent build of his that was working fine and great but he just added a SSD as his OS and main boot device.
OS: Windows 7 x64
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1070T
MOBO: MSI 970 Gaming (MS-7693)
SSD: Samsung Pro 850 128GB
HDD1: 500GB WD
HDD2.: 1TB WD
Ever since then he could not get the machine to post. After several diags on the SSD coming up green I started removing devices. It turns out removing the 1TB HDD makes it boot just fine, no issues. I tried swapping connections with the other HDD installed but it had the same results. Its only when that specific drive is plugged in.
Now the one thing I also checked was plugging it in once the OS was booted(just the SATA cable was unplugged), and windows found it just fine and all the programs and files already installed on it were there functioning just fine. Heck it even passed inside windows run diagnostics and memory tests.
What would cause the presence of the drive to make the MOBO not even post? When plugged in it goes through the MSI number codes in the bottom right of the screen but hangs on 99. Research into this code didn't give me anything related to my issue.
Is it something i'm overlooking?
