Hi,
My laptop brand is a Wireless Dell with Windows 7(64Bit). My smart phone is G-Tide.

I live in campus, and I only have one way to connect to Internet, which is via a two-side Ethernet cable, which can be connected to the Ethernet connector of my laptop from one end, and to the LAN connector.(which is a socket on the wall)

My Laptop has WiFi adapter. Also, Bluetooth. However, I couldn't connect to Wireless AP since Wireless AP is not available.

For my laptop, it isn't necessary to WAP, however, I have smart phone

How to make Smart phone to get access to the internet via connecting to my wireless laptop. Is there a way to let my laptop connected via wired cable to deploy WiFi signals(Wireless Access point)?

Is there any program called 'maryfi' which can used to connect my smart phone with my laptop? So, my smart phone can be connected to internet.

Thanks a lot,

You mean with 64bit or 32bit? If so, then it's 64Bit

Could you please give me the details of setting up that internet connection sharing.
NOTE: My Dell laptop is only connected to LAN via a wired cable(ethernet cable). However, my smart phone is NOT connected to internet since it only has WiFi ability to connect to wireless AP, which is not available

As said before, I live in a campus, in which there are local area networks connected together. I only see 'Ethernet socket' in my room, to which an ethernet cable is connected from one side, and from the other side is connected to my Dell laptop's ethernet port.
So, I have only privilege to access internet thru connecting the Ethernet cable between my laptop and socket in the wall.

Thus, I don't have any control on modem or router or anything else.
I see 'network computers.' in that article, I only have one Dell laptop which is connected via an Ethernet cable to a socket on the wall. And smart phone is not connected.
I don't have two network computers. I only have one dell laptop, and smart phone. How could my Smart phone could be connected to internet as long as there is no WiFi signals

Thanks a lot,

I didn't use the above. However, I downloaded a program called maryfi. Then I installed it on my computer. After that, I created WiFi on my computer. However, when I tried to connect from my mobile to WiFi, I faced it is protected with WPA2. How to do? How to fix that?

Thank you so much

You you're answering me about my question regarding 'WPA2' with my program 'maryfi' Or about your 'article to walk you through it in more detail.http://lifehacker.com/5369381/turn-your-windows-7-pc-in...'. '

If my mine, how can I do enable the security protocol on my phone.

I iterate I didn't use the 'You share the ethernet port with your wifi adapter. Here is an article to walk you through it in more detail.http://lifehacker.com/5369381/turn-your-windows-7-pc-in...'.
However, I downloaded a program called maryfi. Then I installed it on my computer. After that, I created WiFi on my computer. However, when I tried to connect from my mobile to WiFi, I faced it is protected with WPA2.. What is WPA2. Who created it. How to let my mobile phone connect to WiFi without facing it is protected with WPA2.. How to do? How to fix that?

I am referring to the WPA2 question. You should enable WPA2 on your phone and keep the secure wireless connection in place. If you remove WPA2 from the wireless, others will be able to access your wireless network. Even if you allow others to join, you can control who joins by giving them the passphrase to your wireless network.

See here for an explanation of the security protocol WPA2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Protected_Access

I have used your article about Turn Your Windows PC Into a Wireless Hotspot

However, I couldn't succeed in connecting to WiFi network created on my laptop from my mobile phone. I faced 'NOT in range' Although my phone is closer to my laptop.

First of all: a friend of mine asked me to find a way to turn his Windows PC Into a Wireless Hotspot since he does only have a wired network.

However, I have both the wired network, and wirless network since I have Wireless router
However, I turned of the WiFi of my router, and satyed connected to wired network via ethernet cable.

The steps I followed are:While I connected to a wired network(LAN). I have turned off the WiFi of my router, then I created a new ad hoc wireless network, and I enabled the WiFi on my laptop by Enabling Internet Connection Sharing.

The last step is enabling connection sharing through your regular network card, which will allow anybody connected to your ad hoc wireless to use your internet connection. In this case, my internet access at home goes through my Local Area Connection, so I've enabled it there.

On my mobile phone, I was expecting that I will see 'new ad hoc wireless network ''Mohammad Lardhi' is automactilly detected. However, I didn't see wireless network(new ad hoc wireless network) created was automatically shown in the mobileWiFi networks under WiFi Ntworks:. Thus, I tried manully to 'add WiFi network' in my mobile phone by clicking on Add WiFi network: Then, I typed in 'network SSID' "'Mohammad Lardhi'. After that, I slecected in the 'Secuirty type:' WPA/WPA2 PSK since there is no WPA2 in the drop-down menu of 'secturity type' .
Next: I entered PassWord: XXXXX
Finally: I clicked 'done'. However, I faced under 'Mohammad Lardhi' WiFi network NOT in range, securied with WPA/WPA/WPA2 PSK

I've even tried to remove the security type, and PW for the new ad hoc wireless network, however, the same things still presist 'Not in range'

Should I add 'WEP' instead of WPA2-personal while creating the new ad hoc wireless network????

Sorry, been off-line for a couple days. The "not in range" error usually occurs when you enter the SSID incorrectly and the client can't find the network.

If you disable your wireless security on the computer and broadcast with no security, can you find and connect to the network?

Thanks a lot,

Yes, it might be correct what you said about that SSID is incorrect. However, I would be asking you some questions to address this issue, and to let you understand me well::
Firstly: I have a wireless router(has wireless device, has external antenna, has wifi, has ethernet ports) a friend of mine only has access to the internet via wired network. so, he asked me that he want to turn his laptop to a Wireless Hotspot since his mobile cannot access to the internet via wired network. As a result, as long as I have both the wired network, and wirless network since I have Wireless. I turned off the WiFi of my router, and satyed connected to wired network via ethernet cable. to try to turn my laptop to a Wireless Hotspot. Thus, I am in the right place or not?

Secondly: The steps I followed are above in my previous post(COULD YOU PLEASE CONFIRM FOR ME THAT YOU COULD HAVE SEEN MY SCREEN STHOS POSTED BEFORE). While I was connected to a wired network(LAN). I created a new ad hoc wireless network, and I enabled the WiFi on my laptop by Enabling Internet Connection Sharing.

Thirdly While naming my new wireless network( new ad hoc wireless network), I gave this name 'mohammad lardhi', I didn't write the first letter of each name with a capital letter, however, it was automatically converted to 'Mohammad Lardhi' Thus, when typing(adding) in the SSID in my mobile phone, I must write 'Mohammad Lardhi' or 'mohammad lardhi' Although I tried to do the two things, the same error is still.

Finally: When you said 'If you disable your wireless security on the computer and broadcast with no security, can you find and connect to the network? ' You mean about wireless network( new ad hoc wireless network), . If so, I would be saying
(A) that I disabled the wireless security on the computer and broadcast with no security. However, the same error is happening(Not in range).
B) Also, if I disable the wirless security of wireless network( new ad hoc wireless network), I cannot find the wirless network is automatically detected by my phone. Should 'new ad hoc wireless network' be detected by my phone automatically?? I really added the name of Wireless network(new ad hoc wireless network) manually in my mobile phone, although the same error 'Not in range' persists.

Could you please understand me?
First of all: Why have you insist on not telling me if you could see my screen shots or not?
I don't have any problem with connecting my smart phones to internet since I have a router which has both ethernet ports, and WiFi.(Wireless access point)
However, my friend stays in a campus, and he only has ethernet port to connect to internet. He has no router, he only has a LAN port on a wall which comes from unknown place for him (i.e. my friend only has access to the internet via wired network thru a LAN port on the wall, he doesn't know from where this LAN port on wall comes. He only sees a LAN port on the wall, so he connect a two-sided ethernet cable between his laptop LAN port, and the LAN port on the wall?
So,
I want to apply the steps of turning my Windows PC connected to internet via an ethernet cable into a Wireless Hotspot? . So, I would be able to tell my friend what to turn his Windows PC connected to internet via an ethernet cable into a Wireless Hotspot?
As long as I have router with both WiFi(Wireless Access points, and Ethernet ports(To connect Wired network), I have turned off the WiFi of my router by pressing 'OFF' button.
Thus, I have connected two sided Ethernet cable between the LAN port on my laptop, and the other side is connected to the Ethernet port of my router.

After that, I have applying the steps discussed in my post below(I hope you understand me)

I don't know who marked this thread as answered, although it is still not answered. Could you please COLGeek reply to me to close this issue?

BA unselected.

Don't use an adhoc network, rather use an infrastructure type on your wireless config.

1. Turning off the wi-fi on your router has nothing to do with this (since you are trying to replicate your friend's config) unless you are using the same wireless network name (SSID). If so, don't do that.

2. Simplify the name of the network, just something simple to minimize the likelihood of making a mistake.

3. On the wireless network you are creating, try running unsecure first to setup and ensure you can connect properly. If so, then enable a security protocol.

First of all: Why have you insist on not telling me if you could see my screen shots or not?
There is no thing such an infrastructure type on my wireless config.
Look below:

TUmPuq.jpg

I should choose 'Setup a wireless ad hoc(computer - to- Computerr) network'
