I went on Amazon and bought me a Crucial MX100 256GB SSD, and plugged it into a Dell Inspiron 530 (no letter) with a Intel Core 2 Duo. everything starts working well, cloned the previous hard drive, but later i started fresh. i installed the intel rst to get everything working right (Windows Update refuse to work, and indexing service refuse to start without the drivers), but after installing the intel rst, applications took nearly 5 minutes to load, and my boot times werent as fast as before.
i know its no the drive, because im currently using it on a different computer, and its works flawlessly, no problems whatsoever. what i think it might be is improper ahci support, as my bios only has 2 selections for a sata mode, IDE and RAID. and i know for a fact that raid is completely different from standard AHCI, even though dell says its the same thing.

one question i would like to ask is this. i have a StarTech Marvell 88SE9123 SATA Controller that came along with the computer when i got it and i want to know, does the controller use its own seperate AHCI configuration thats completely different from the computers onboard sata controller, or does it share SATA modes with the motherboard? and for whatever reason, do i need to install the drivers before i install windows?

Solution
When your BIOS don't support AHCI, the usage of an add-on controller could be a solution.
But you can also check for a new BIOS, usually the built-in Intel controller is best solution.
