Looking to buy a new graphics card (currently using old galaxy 9800 gt 512mb)

Current build is
i5 4460 3.2ghz
Asrock h97 pro4 mobo
Coolermaster scout 2 case
Evga 500b 500w 80+ bronze psu
and my old macbook's 512gb hdd and 4gb unknown ram,
Stock fan at rear and one bitfenix spectre pro white led at front.

Currently looking into the gtx 750 ti,
gigabyte/asus gtx 760 and r9 270x
any opinions are welcome
(Budget under $270 preferably, also going to buy a 2x4gb kingston hyperx ram kit in blue or black just for a bit of a blue/black theme)

Solution
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card ($259.00 @ CPL Online)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 2GB WINDFORCE Video Card ($255.00 @ CPL Online)

Depending on which games you play, the GTX should be better for games like Crysis and AC, while the R9 should be better in BF series. EDIT2: Never mind, the GTX is a fair bit worse END EDIT

EDIT: Here's a G.skill 1866 CL9 2x4 GB kit Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($105.00 @ CPL Online). Voltage is to Intel spec.

The RAM is blue and the GPU is black. END EDIT

I think you're spot on with the 270x. It's got arguably the best bang for buck and will run most anything on high or even ultra at 1080p. This is assuming that is your resolution.

I think it is also worth seeing if you can afford the R280 which is also really good. in or around that price range.

I think he means AUS $...just to make sure we are on the same page, you mean AUS $ too yes?

Good point about the new releases. Prices will drop and it will be a good time to take advantage.

Thanks for the feedback, i just wasnt sure if my psu would handle an r9 280 as it seems quite power hungry,
I mainly play relatively low requirement like csgo, tf2 but would probably start playing games like bf4 etc
Will just make sure it will fit in my case, i know i can remove the hdd bays so it shouldnt be an issue

Decided I will probably get the 270x and keep it for a few years

(leaning more towards the gigabye one despite its long length)

2gb vram is more than enough for me, and with its lower tdp it should be a little less stressful on my psu which i plan to keep for a while (despite being not the best)
Perhaps in the future I will upgrade to a higher quality psu and get a better gpu when I feel i need it,
thanks for the help
