For a while now, my computer has been shutting off under heavy load. I know it is not temperatures as my CPU max temp is 67C and my GPU max temp is 68C. I strongly believed it was my power supply because it was an old 485W Enermax power supply so I replaced it with a new 650W power supply and it still does it. I've noticed that it does it when my SSD is being accessed a lot. It does it several times when downloading a game from Steam and it does it on games that use your storage a lot such as DayZ and Arma 2. Now I am almost positive it is my SSD. Can anyone confirm this?

Specs:
CPU: AMD FX-6300
GPU: MSI R9 270X
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB
RAM: 8GB 1866 mHz
PSU: 650W

It did it again on 2/19/15 while I was watching a Youtube video and downloading Insurgency on Steam, which is why I think it is my SSD. Any help is appreciated.
UPDATE: It also does it when installing addons from the Steam Workshop. I ran chkdsk /f and chkdsk /r but it still does it. It is either my SSD or my motherboard.

Do you have an additional drive (prefer an HDD) where you could test-download and see if the problem persist?
Also, I have no idea how you ran an R9 270x with a 485W power supply on the first place...

I ordered a 1TB Hard Drive yesterday and I'm going to see how it does with that. I ran Seatools for DOS and it came up with nothing and now I'm going to try and run memtest86 over night to see if it may be my RAM.

If I were you I wouldn't stress the computer like that, knowing that it may crash any time soon. Just wait for the 1TB to arrive, install the OS there, uninstall the SSD, and then see what would happen next.

I did it because I'm just now seeing your reply. I ran it for 6 passes and still nothing. I doubt it is my wireless adapter but is there a chance it may be causing it?

You know, technology is very when it comes down to critical functions...So just to play safe I'd take away that wireless adapter, or as the matter of a fact I'd even strip down the PC to its bare essentials (CPU,RAM,MOBO,PSU) and start testing from there.
Or yet even better, take away that SSD (first backup whatever important information you have just in case) and start testing that devil thing on other machines and see if it duplicates the problem there.

MY CPU does not have integrated graphics, so doesn't that mean I won't get video if I strip it down? My hard drive will be here Thursday and I will update once I get the OS loaded onto it.

Does your motherboard have integrated graphics? If not then by all means put your video card

I have been running MSI Kombustor 3 for about 30 minutes which is what it took to power off before on DayZ. I did this to monitor temperatures to see if anything was overheating but it doesn't seem like it does unless the sensors are wrong.

I want to say it is my RAM again but could this possibly be software related as well? It doesn't do it under load in memtest86 it doesn't do it in SeaTools for DOS and it doesn't do it in my BIOS which is what leads me to believe it is my RAM or OS.

UPDATE: My HDD arrived and I loaded the OS onto it and while downloading the 350 MB driver for my video card, it did it. I'm not sure if it is just randomly once, or if the problem is still persisting. I ran the HDD as a slave for a bit along side my SSD and it seemed like it stopped doing it for a while. I was able to download several games over night and still be able to wake up my computer. If it is any help, when it does this, the hard drive is no longer being accessed and my monitor goes into standby but the power light on my case is still on and all fans are still spinning.

UPDATE: I disabled the PCI wifi adapter I have and started to use ethernet to see if it would help. And now that I think about it, it wouldn't do it when using the storage a lot, it did it when I used the internet a lot. It did it once when I opened twitch, youtube, and twitter all at the same time and it would turn off only when I played multiplayer on Borderlands 2. I played DayZ for a while just to test it and it didn't shut off once. I think I may have figured it out but I'm not going to say I am 101% sure. Could it be causing a short?

have you tried removing all non essential parts?
I also had the same problem, bought a new i5-4690k & msi z97s krait, and the rest was from my previous rig. First day was fine, but started acting up on the 2nd day. I even encountered the PC not booting at all, no power!

At first I thought it was my memory stick or the ram slots, but trying to remove one and swapping the other, still kept on crashing randomly (same error).

But after doing some fresh install, finally was able to solve it by pulling out my add-on (pci-e to usb 3 port) card. I still encountered around twice random boots but after that, that's it! Crashing stopped! My guess is that that card was creating some sort of current fluctuation to the mother board or something.

Yup! I created another thread and regularly updated the people on it and I finally figured out that it was my WiFi Adapter that ran in my PCI slot on my 970 motherboard. It was about a month and a half ago that I figured it out. And of course the people on that thread I made weren't much help. (Not to my surprise.)
