My external hdd randomly disconnects (sometimes it reconnects again. sometimes not).
I think this only happens when it's plugged in any usb 3.0 port.
Also, the Eject button from the dropdown menu, when you right click the HDD from windows explorer, is gone.

I already tried other solutions:
-Disabled USB selective suspend
-Updated usb 3.0 drivers

Any help?

Hey jujaswe. I'd recommend that you try with a different USB cable (not longer than 12") because yours might have become faulty, also you should try the drive with another computer to see if the same thing happens. I'd recommend that you backup any important data which you might have on it, just to be on the safe side. Then I'd suggest that you download the manufacturer's diagnostic tool to test the drive with it and see if it has any errors or bad sectors.
Btw what OS are you using?

Hope that helps. Let me know how everything goes.

Thanks Boogieman_WD. I'll buy a new cable tomorrow to try it out.
I'm using Windows 7 ultimate on my desktop, but the same thing happens on my laptop which runs on Windows 8.1.

Edit: Btw, can you link me the Western Digital Diagnostic tool? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm using WD My Passport Ultra. Thanks!

Alright, just remember to backup your important data ASAP, this is somewhat of a golden rule if you suspect that there might be something wrong with your drive and you don't have a backup for some reason. :)
You could try running the manufacturer's diagnostic tool today, to get the tests out of the way and to see if there are any issues, because if something pops-up as an error, there probably won't be any need for you to buy a new cable.
And last but not least, are you 100% sure that this happens only with USB 3.0 ports and everything's OK with USB 2.0 ports?

I'll make sure to backup everything I need. Thanks.
Yes, I'm sure it's okay with usb 2.0 ports. It's been plugged in for about an hour and it's not disconnecting. But when it's in a 3.0 port, it disconnects about 5-10 mins in.
