i just built my first computer and i was noticing my top gpu was getting up to 80c on heavy load and my bottom gpu is almost not even getting warm and a friend of mine told me that my bottom gpu might not be working was wondering if this is normal or is there a way to check if both are functioning correctly. any help on this would be great

specs are

MSI z97-gd65 gaming
evga geforce gtx 770x2
intel i5-4960k
g-skill ripjaws xseries 8g
corsair hx850
seagate baracuda 1t sata
samsung ssd 250g
corsair h100i
and a asus pci-e wirelass adaptor

Yes those temps are normal. If you want them to be lower, you could set the speed manually or adjust the fan curve so the fan spins faster at a lower...
Try running 3dmark11 with SLI enabled and with it disabled to see if there is a difference in score. The SLI score should be much higher if everything is working correctly. http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/3dmark-11-basic-edition-download.html

PS: We have very similar systems. Well motherboard and CPU anyway. You have SLI GTX770 and I am running 7970+7950 crossfire, lol. Xfire has been working fine for me.(except ubisoft titles, grrrrr)

haha nice yeah i love my set up only thing is i hate the case its a corsair 600t and it came in with a faulty power button so im having to start up with the motherboard till they send part to fix it. but i figured out why bottom card wasnt working i didnt have sli enabled for some reason it didnt save my configuration when i enabled it before. but scores are as follows

without sli
graphics 11244
physics 7231
combined 7672

with sli enabled
graphics 21110
physics 6663
combined 7031

and im not sure on whats normal temps for gpus but are temps in the 60-80c on heavy load normal?

Yes those temps are normal. If you want them to be lower, you could set the speed manually or adjust the fan curve so the fan spins faster at a lower temperature. I actually run the fan speed manually at 40% when idle, surfing, or watching a movie with crossfire disabled. When I game or run a few benchmarks, I set both cards to 70% before I start and activate crossfire of course. The temps just barely go over 60c for me on both cards that way. One gets to about 66c, and the other hits about 63c. That could just be the different coolers coming into play though. The MSI cooler is better and that card is the cooler running card.

So all is good now, and you can go game in piece. :) Don't forget to select the best answer.
