Can't find product key after reformating

Hello guys,

I am in need of urgent help.
Recently I have reformatted one of old my laptop and I can't seem to find the product key which is usually attached to the laptop itself.
I used the windows 7 DVD to reformat.

Is there any way for me to recover my windows product key?

Please advise.

IF you did not delete the recovery partition. I believe you can follow these instructions...

If the laptop has no license key sticker and you already reformatted then you are out of luck.
I would make sure the key is not on the backside of the access panels on the bottom.

If you have a serial number you can call support for whoever the OEM is for the computer (dell, hp, etc) and hope they can/will help you (of course being out of warranty they might want more $$ then the cost of a windows license).

Did you format the recovery partition? most laptops have a built in recovery partition to factory restore. That might get your computer back up in running. Otherwise without a key on the laptop there is not much to be done. And if the laptop did not have the same version of windows that you are trying to install off your cd. The key on the laptop most likely will not work.

I still have the laptop box and thoroughly looked for it..
Still can't find it.

I have no idea whether I format the recovery partition or not...
Is there any ways for me to check this?
