I recently got a decent deal on a Lenovo 27" Horizon All in one, and am starting a "to do list"
Wanting to upgrade to SSD and motherboard first, then on to graphic card
I am a novice...
I don't quite understand what I have, or where I should go from here.
I am willing to learn, which is why I am here.
Seeking the knowledge of YOU !

here is what I have : ( I think its 2 ? but again... I really dont know)

I doubt you can upgrade the motherboard as it's most likely a heavily customised form factor, it essentially is a laptop. The same goes for the GPU, it is most likely built into the motherboard, and so isn't upgradable. The only viable upgrades are an SSD and RAM. For the SSD, you can use any 2.5" SSD, but there are also pcie mini slots which can fit mSATA ssd's.

Thank you for responding, I asked in a separate thread about the MB and the SDD, and I am ok with not upgrading everything. I want to build my husband a gaming laptop/pc at some point for Diablo 3 and other RPG type games.

For this PC I basically want it for internet, Netflix, MS Office, Homework and Photoshop CC stuff.

In addition:
Is this pretty easy to do for someone who hasn't messed with internal hardware?
I have helped several friends and family with simple and somewhat more involved software/driver fixes... but this is uncharted territory for me..and the PC is not brand new, it was open box, but its new to me.. I wouldn't mind GeekSquad doing it for the 50$, but if I can do it.. I would like to ..just for the experience and knowledge enhancement

I have just noticed the frequent lag and somewhat less frequent freezing...

Will the SDD and RAM make enough of a difference for the cost investment?

Yes, that is something I also need to look into.. I don't know the in's and outs of what processes and services should be running in the background. I have maybe 4 items enabled for startup, my antivirus and a few I was unsure of.

Is there anything else I need to be looking for. I have 5GB of RAM available, should I tweak settings somewhere.

Thank you again for taking the time to help me... I REALLY appreciate it :)

I think you should also try and uninstall any unused programs, especially the pre installed bloat. I can't see any problems with the ram. It could very easily be the hard drive as well, 2.5 inch mechanical drives are always a bit slow.

Yes , I have read several reviews for my AIO and almost if not all of them complained about the HD, that's why it will be the first thing I replace.
I use Mozilla and when I notice lag, in TM it always seems to be the main culprit. I only have 6mbps ISP at the moment... because its all my DSL offers currently.
I will uninstall bloatware, is there an easy way to tell how many services and processes I should be running in the background? I have CCleaner, but I don't know what other optimizing I can be doing.

The answer is different for every computer, you just have to use your discretion and decide if the process is important, i'd only close the process if it uses a significant amount of ram (over 10mb), and not if it's from intel or microsoft.
