Ok guys, so I've been asked be DOUBLY sure that my CPU is borked before I send it off for RMA.

So here are the specs:
CPU: Athlon x4 860k
GPU: MSI R9 280
Motherboard: GA-F2A88XM
RAM: 8gb 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance
Storage: 60GB Kingston SSD
PSU: CX750M

AND here're the issues/solutions:

I built the system, switched on and got no boot no beeps.
I removed RAM, still no beeps which was VERY WORRYING.
I Tried different (known working) RAM and still got no boot and no beeps.
I swapped out the CPU for an older APU thinking the BIOS may be outdated.
This worked perfectly (booted, beeped, installed windows), and I updated the bios to the latest available version. I then reinstalled the 860k. When I switched on, the same thing happened, no boot no beep codes nada.
Is there anything I can do, to make sure that the CPU is working/not working?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've checked for bent pins, nothing to see, everthing is perfectly uniform, I understand the rareness of cpu failure, but I really think that that's the cause, what might it be if not the cpu?

I'm already in talks about RMA-ing, but would like to fix the problem some other way if possible.

My solution was to Re-sit the CPU a number of times, eventually it worked. I think it might have been a small amount of thermal paste going over the side of the CPU and into the socket? Not sure, but I will definitely use a pea size in the middle next time instead of a credit card spread.
