DVI-I Male to Displayport Female Help

So I'm finishing my first PC soon with a 980 inside of it. My current monitor only supports VGA and DVI-I, I know the 980 has a DVI-I port in it I still plan on upgrading my monitor soon to one that has DisplayPort. So to save money I plan on buying a DisplayPort cable and getting a converter so that it can work with my monitor, the problem is that I can't find a converter that would work like I wanted. Do you know of any converters that can do that?

Displayport to dvi requires an active adapter that isn't cheap (different signal type). Its going to be cheaper just to buy a dvi cable and then a displayport cable, DVI cables are cheap anyway, especially if you have one lying around the house.
