Hello all, I am stuck on Graphics and I need expert opinions please.

I have a HTPC and PS4 that I am selling to make a Better Gaming/HTPC (I will use a xbox or ps4 controller). I want much better graphics than a PS4, the PC will be displayed on a Panasonic 60" TV @ 1080p.

What card should I go for that is best value for money? I have read too many conflicting reviews. R9 290, R9 290X, GTX 960, GTX 970 or wait for the AMD 300 series?
My budget is $300-$400, I can spend a bit more if their is a card worth the money (up to $500).

I am going for
Case- Corsair Carbide Air 240 Micro ATX
MB- ASRock Z97M Pro4
Ram- 8GB 1600
Cpu- Intel Core i5 4690K
PSU- Corsair HX620
Graphics- ?
HDD - SSD & HDD

If there is anything else that you think is worth changing please advise.

thank you for your input. :D

Comparing the R9 290 and the GTX 970 performance wise the R9 290 may do slightly better than the GTX 970. The R9 290 is cheaper as well. However the major benefit to the GTX 970 is the power consumption. Max TDP is ~150w while the R9 290 is ~300w of power. So, it is a matter of finding the manufacture you want to buy from and check to see recommended power supply requirements if you wish to go with the R9 290. Best of luck, All of those GPUs will last you a good long time of gaming.

Thank you for your reply.

I already have the PSU, it is from my other desktop PC.
What about the RAM issues with the GTX970?
Why not a micro ATX? ( I need it to fit in my TV cabinet)

Thank you
what about the GTX970 RAM issues??

At 1920x1080 , only the faster 3.5GB VRAM is used . So no problem . The case supports cards up to 290 mm , so EVGA /Zotac GTX 970 will be fine , also Asus/Gigabyte small GTX 970

I finished the set up and it is up and running

Case- Corsair SPEC-01 Mid Tower Gaming Case
MB- ASRock Z97M Pro4
Ram- Corsair 8GB 1600
Cpu- Intel Core i5 4690K
PSU- Corsair HX620
Graphics- Radeon R9 290x 4GB
HDD - 128gb & 64GB SSD / 3TB & 2TB HDD

Filled the case with system fans and the CPU is @ 30c and the MB is @ 28c (degrees)

Games look awesome too (compared to PS4).
