Really low FPS in World of Warcraft

I am having a problem in World of Warcraft where as soon as I do anything (like get in a fight) my FPS will drop from 60+ to about 3. This happens even with all game settings on low, although when they are on low I can get about 140 to 160 fps until I do anything more than turn or run.

It is not a video card problem since I have tried 3 different GPU's. In addition my son has the exact same rig save the video card (currently using the onboard graphics) and is getting 30-40 fps with no significant drop in framerate in intense situations.

The only clue I may have is that it seems to take far too long for software to load, for instance I just opened Nvidia Geforce Experience to grab my info and it took about 30 seconds or more to appear. This seems a bit excessive to me, considering this build is less than a week old at this point. I really have no idea where to look for the problem other than making sure all 4 processors are running and they are. (quad core). Btw... all drivers are installed... no question marks in the device manager.

Please help. Is there any free software i can download that is at least semi-idiot friendly that might help me find where my problem lies?

Any help will certainly be appreciated.

GeForce GTX 750Ti
AMD Athlon 5350 APU with Radeon R3
Biostar AM1 MHP

WoW is a CPU dependant game. Your Athlon will strugle imho. I.E, as a former owner of the Athlon 750k i can say that the difference since i updated to i5 3470 is HUGE in WoW. But, i can see that this is not your issue, since you have masive FPS drops.
If you say that you have the latest Motherboard drivers i suggest that you install the latest BIOS aswell.
Also, you can try to change the API (if it is not allready) to DirectX 11 in the WoW menu.

Boot to safe mode and goto Device manager and remove all GPU drivers then reboot and reinstall. You should also make sure Catalyst is updated as well.

With a 2ghz AMD CPU I am surprised you can get any decent FPS, the game is pretty CPU dependent still. Also are you monitoring Heat on your CPU?

You hard drive wont be the issue that just increases load time between zones and instances. FPS is going to be related to Driver issues, heat and other settings that may be messed up. You can put a SSD in and you wont see a FPS increase just much less load time.

I will try this, thanks!
Plus the temp seldom goes much above 30 C.

UPDATE: Tried it, logged in, went to Nagrand and killed some big beasty. Ten second fight ... framerate went from 40 to 4 in that time.

Turn off All Mods and reset you UI to default are you getting the same issue? Also be aware that Patch 6.1 will deploy on the 24th so this may help you issue as it will include new Graphics settings and tweaks to the engine as well as messing with all mods.

I have tried disabeling all addons but that didn't help. I will try setting the UI to default. One thing I did try was deleting the wtf, cashe, and interface folders. This actually worked! I was able to fight and do anything else while keeping my frame rate above about 40 with most settings on high. It was awesome, until I exited the game. Later when I logged back in everything had returned to sucktastic. The only addons I had reinstalled were healbot, recount and altoholic. I then disabled them... no change.... removed them completely.... no change.... removed their settings files from wtf... no change.

My next step is to delete the wtf, cache, and interface files again and see whats what.

ty for the help... I'll report back later.

Completely kill the adds, look for updates and install the one you need most and see if you have any issues. I would leave Recount off for sure until after that patch, that is generally a useless add that causes issues with both fps and D/Cing when it isn't working right.

Problem Solved!

Nothing I tried worked, and none of the suggestions worked either. Some things Delaro suggested I do did provide small improvements but nothing on a scale I needed. So basically I threw my hands in the air and punted. This pc was my wife's so I simply switched our hard drives and gave her mine. This required a re-install of all chipset drivers and so forth. My intention was to give her my pc and put an end to the constant harassment. She was unhappy with my inability to solve this problem to say the least. And then when this pc was mine i could fix it at my leisure. None of that is necessary now. Despite a seemingly clean and problem-free install of the initial drivers something was apparently a bit off, but now that I have switched hard drives and re-installed all drivers those problems i was having magically disappeared. This pc is now able to sustain 30 - 50 fps while playing WoW even in the most intense of situations.

I would like to thank the Toms Hardware community and those who answered my post. I would like to give a special thanks to Delaro who stuck with me throughout. I still have no real idea what the exact problem might have been, but I guess a "Magic" solution is better than no solution at all.

Thanks again! Cheers :
