Hei guys, i'm new here. I have a MSI K9VGM-V motherboard and recently i bought a 2gb ddr2 kingmax 800mhz ram component, but when i plug it in my pc won't start. In the other slot (i have only 2 slots for RAM memory) i have a 1gb DDR2 elixir 800mhz component. The question is, why my pc doesn't start? I must have the same memory or what ? e.g. 2 x 2gb ddr2 800mhz or 2 x 1gb ddr2 800mhz

Does your computer do any audible tones when it fails to start?

Although rare, RAM can match in speed and type, but still not work. The only way to be sure is to have identical RAM.

Have you tried removing your original RAM sticks, and just trying the new one to see if it works? If it's a faulty stick, it won't let your PC boot up.

There are possibilities that your 2 different ram have different timings.

If you're trying to turn on pc with both ram installed , either it will not start or it will run slow.

Install your new ram only and try.

Actually yes, as i turn on the pc, it beeps 3 times. If i took one component off doesn't matter which one it works. I asked this because i want to buy another 2gb RAM memory, the same i bought, and i don't want to waste it...
