My laptop says it has ddr3 ram but supports ddr2

Hello there,i have an asus laptop and i was upgrading the ram from 4g to 8gb..So before i bought ram,i have checked some of applications like cpu z,speecy crucial,task manager etc,all shows that i have ddr3 ram on board..but after i bought and set it up,i see my ram on application but not in bios and windows settings...So i ask asus customer service and they said that my laptop supports ddr2....I dont know what to do now,can someone help me??

Easiest way to be certain, power off the laptop, remove the back access panel and check the memory in there.

DDR3 has been used since 2009, so more then likely you had a confused level 1 tech support that did not know what they are talking about.

If your laptop is a Core i3/i5/i7 or amd a4/a6/a8/a10 then it should be ddr 3.
core 2 duo, core 2 quad, amd turion, or amd Athlon would actually be ddr2.
Pentium and Celeron could be either one.

actually the memory is fixed to motherboard thats why im not sure but my bios says it has been done on december 2013 and i bought on april 2014....btw my laptop using i5 processor,so that means my laptop using ddr3 like all application says but why my ram not been added to remaining ram except shown in spd tab on applications??please help me how to fix it...

well to be said,i also not know for sure because my outer stickes says i have asus x552ld but on bios and all of other applications,they say i have x550ld motherboard and using ddr3 ram on 1600mhz.....and i also have 2gb graphic which is not on actual x552ld model
