These are the parts I am planning on using in my PC build:
- (Case) Phanteks Entoo Pro
- (Motherboard) MSI Gaming 7
- (CPU) Intel i7 4790
- (Graphics Card) MSI GTX 970
- (RAM) Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 2400Mhz
- (SSD) Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
- (HDD) WD Black 2TB
- (PSU) Cooler Master V550

Please could you suggest any parts that would lower the price of this build that are also about equally as good.

For example, I am thinking about getting the MSI Gaming 5 as the motherboard.

Thanks in advance :)

Unless your going to be heavy rendering or intensive video editing or other stuff, the 4690k is the way to go. You can easily overclock with the MSI motherboard, and you will have awesome performance. If you need the i7 then go for the 4790k, even if you don't overclock. You will get faster stock speeds, the locked version is 3.6 to 3.9, and the unlocked is 4.0 to 4.3 with turbo boost.

Solution
What are you using the computer for?

If not doing video rendering or 3d modeling then an i5 will be more then plenty.
16GB might be overkill depending on your uses.
Unless you need a fast scratch drive then the black edition hard disk drive is not necessary (granted the increased warranty is worth it if it is on sale for a good price)

Thank you for the quick responses :)

I am planning on using this PC for gaming and 3D-game making (unrealengine / cryengine) so I am not sure if I will need the WD Black HDD. I am going to store my OS, games and apps on the SSD and all the files on the HDD. There may be some smaller games on it as well though.

In that case I recommend going with the 4790k.

So do I need the WD Black HDD or could I get something cheaper?
Also, is it worth getting the 16GB RAM or should I just get the 8GB?

Thanks
