my desktop parts
xeon l5420 quad 2.5ghz 12mb 1333mhz tdp50watt 771 to 775 cpu
hi-level 2x4gb 1333mhz ram (at 1066mhz)
gigabyte g41 combo ddr2-3 775 motherboard rev2.0 bios updated
zotac nvidia gtx560 1gb 256bit ddr5
sandisk 128gb ssd sata2comp.
500watt psu (real 500watt)

and i cant overclocking my cpu. 2.5ghz 333x7.5(6-7-7.5 step)

my cpu temp is max 26celc. when im clocking cpu examp: 339x7.5 and save/exit, then black screen....

2.question this motherboard support max 8gb ram but i think 2x8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram is working what do you think? is it possible or.. maybe bios modding etc. im sorry about my <<Moderator edited for inappropriate content>> english.

333x7.5 is stock and working 334-335-336-337-338 stabil and working but 339 and more not working just black screen. cpu volt never changing if this cpu +0.5 volt black screen again. but e series and x series 771 xeon cpu perfect clocking and voltaging. i think maybe L series xeon cpu not possible overclocking because low voltage series. what do you think? and 2.5ghz quad core is good for gaming? 3-4 years later?

Why do you think you need 16GB of memory. 8GB is more than enough for most users.

OCing a Xeon (especially an older one) is tricky. It is meant to be a locked CPU.

It looks like you were successful at lesser OC settings, is that true? If so, one of those levels may be as far as you can go with this config.

What is the best, stable setup you have been able to achieve?
