The issue I'm having is that I just put an additional 8GB of Corsair Vengeance ram in my computer, totaling 16GB. Part # CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9B
Part # for the old ram is CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9. The phsyical difference between the two is the B at the end. The old ram is black, and the new ram is blue. (Heatspreader color)
Both have same identical timings,9-10-9-27, both are 1866mhz.
The issue I've had recently is trying to play Evolve.
System is a 3770k and a Sabertooth z77 with an R9 290x(reference card).
This system is not overclocked and never has been but I'm considering trying it.

My computer will randomly shut off when playing games, here lately, Evolve. But it has happened with Diablo 3, Titanfall, and Call of Duty. It doesn't do it every game. I've tested memory, and the odd thing that is happening is Memtest 86+ says Slot 0 and Slot 2 are 1866mhz, (old ram).
Slot 1 and Slot 3 are 1066mhz. I ran the test for 5 hours without a single error. Video card has been benched with Furmark and passes highly everytime even after running for a while.
The memory, in CPUZ, old memory shows t2, and the new shows t1.

I'm curious if I need to return this memory to Newegg or if it's a different problem.
I'm sorry if this is slightly confusing but explaining a problem isn't exactly my best quality.

...not overclocked and never has been but I'm considering trying it.

If the system is already unstable, don't try overclocking.
Update the video card driver, if not already the latest (just because they cause so many issues), then the BIOS firmware.
Then try MemTest86 V6.0
Try running with just the new RAM in the old slots. Then try just the old RAM in the new (formerly unused slots).

Well I was thinking about overclocking, but there's no way I would if it's unstable. I'll try both of those as well. I ran the new and old ram through memtest, since the new ram is pretty new, I only ran it for 2 passes each stick, but the old ram I've left overnight and still no errors. I'm really out of ideas. The BIOS does tell me that the old ram is running at 1866, as well as memtest. Memtest(box on top right), says it's at 1866mhz. When listing the slot in the middle of the screen, it says 1066. I'm very confused and it seems the people I've asked are stumped as well.

You don't need 16GB to play most games (or any game really).
Maybe something else broke coincidentally around the same time as the RAM upgrade.
Can you go back to just 8GB and see if it is stable. Try the 8GB old stick, then the 8GB new stick in the same slot.

I've done that too. Swapped them both out, ran one at a time, and two at a time. I know 16gb is crazy for gaming but oh well. It isn't the only thing I do, just what I do most the time. I'm thinking maybe a psu problem now.
