Memory speed vs Latency... how much of a difference will it make between these two kits?

which memory is faster on day to day tasks and gaming (not interested in overclocking memory)

2x4GB DD3 memory running at 1333MHz and CAS-9 or

2x4GB DD3 memory running at 1600MHz and CAS11

I know that speed and latency do kind of cancel themselves out to a certain extent but which kit would you pick and why? Thanks!

Solution
The latencies are nearly the same (13.5ns vs. 13.75ns), so the 1600 kit is faster because of higher bandwidth. It's not going to make a huge difference in games, but a little bit here and there.

Never said it's overly strong, said it compares to 1600/10 vs the 1600/11 as base spec on the other set - those should be expected to run at 1333/10 - 6 of one half dozen of the other the 1333/9 rated sticks are generally stronger than a set rated 1600/11

The point is, most decent sticks can OC or downclock at 1 step each (data rate and CL) so if decent 1333/9 can OC to 1600/10 where a base 1600/11 set if downclocked would go 1333/10, you appear to be trying to quantify that latency will never change which isn't true

And you're trying to claim a rule of thumb that there's really no solid support for.

Actually there is, I network with a bunch of other builders and IT folks, not to mention keeping in touch with a number of the manufacturers and what I've said is the general consensus, again when using decent/good sticks. I myself have tested thousands of sticks of DRAM over the years, and try to look into the memory forums as often as possible since it's the probably the least understood component in a rig, a large number of the Best Solutions I've been given in the memory area come from helping people get their memory to work, whether it be to spec, or to OC it or to get mixed sets of DRAM to play.
