270x + ram or r9 280 and new psu

In a dilemma where my PSU is an evga 500b 80+ bronze and though I have heard it will run an r9 280 It probably won't last as long as it would with a 270x

The difference in price in my area (Western Australia) is $20 between the two GPU's
Not sure what to do as right now I don't really game intensively
All answers are welcome
(P.s would only have to wait less than a week to buy components anyway)

YOu would be surprised. R9 280 uses almost the same power as the R9 270X, maybe 10-20 watts more in worst case. If you can run 270X (which you can for sure) then you can run 280 as well. Go for it.

Just bought and installed the r9 280, running fine, have only played not too graphics intense games but the idle temp is around 39-43 and under load its in the 50s so it seems to be doing well :) thanks for the advice
