Hi. Recently after installing windows 7, and not being able to enable ACHI mode in SATA inboard controller, I was told I would have to enable it during a clean install. I am a little confused. Am I supposed to make the changes in the BIOS before running Windows 7 Install, or is it in how I format the SSD drive?

I would really appreciate a step-by-step guide on how to enable the best mode for my SSD, as i re-install windows 7. (It got a nasty virus, nvxdsync.exe, something that keeps loading a page called "hotdatechat.com" and is nearly impossible to remove from my computer.
I thought I'd just do a fresh install, and take advantage of it, to enable the faster ACHI mode for my SSD while I was doing it.
any suggestions?
thanks!

Yes.. BEFORE installing Windows again... go into your BIOS and change it from IDE to AHCI... then you can install Windows.

After you get it installed.. go to Computer and find your SSD and Right-Click on it and select Properties... and UNSELECT the option to Index your SSD.. since you won't need that. Since you have 16GB RAM I also recommend that you turn off your Pagefile as well.

You just need to reboot and get in to your BIOS, and that is where you can make sure that your storage is running in ACHI mode. Then you can do a fresh install of Windows 7.

Your "virus" is NVIDIA User Experience Driver Component, but can cause problems. Check out this article...

Have you run Malwarebytes, antivirus, rootkit cleaners? It sounds like your browser got hijacked, check your browser options to see what is set for your home page, and search engine.

Hi. thanks for the help!
I have gone into bios and in the "Onboard sata controllers" there is no ACHI mode, only IDE and RAID.
I am just going to start all over again.

Also this browser hijack, is rough. Tried MalwareBytes, Avast, Spybot S&D, anti-exploit, CC cleaner, and nothing seems to work. I figured since I wanted to reinstall anyway, and had a chance at a new life, I'd just go all the way.

Thanks for the help!
