when i plugged in my pci-e connector to my gpu i plugged it in but heard a snap should i be worried?

There is a plastic locking tab at the back side of the PCIe slot. You may have heard it snap into place. It is possible you also heard it break off (I have had that happen). If that is the case you usually won't have any problems.
